Changing from DirectTV to Dish w Slimline Travler

Postby nuthinfancy » Sat Dec 22, 2012 4:51 pm

I finally got to install the Dish 1000 LNB assembly on my Travler Slimline that was originally setup for Direct TV.

Everything went together fine with the exception of the F-cap that was missing. (Don't know how important that is)

I went through the steps listed in the instructions to calibrate etc and that went fine

My problem is that the dish won't lock on to the satellites and after awhile it stows itself. Also it doesn't turn off anymore- just displays the message "LG Dish 1000 stowed"

I'm parked in a field with no trees around me. I'm in Ocala, FL. When the antenna was set up for Direct TV, it was able to lock on to their satellites.

Is this a setup where you had the SK-3005 and changed only the dish/arm/LNB or did you remove the SK-3005 and install an SK-1000? Did you reprogram the software for Dish? Are you sure that LG (not SM) Dish 1000 is the correct setting? I have not done the change over so just be sure you are using the correct settings for a 1000.2 dish allowing reception of 110, 119 and 129. If the 119 satellite is blocked the antenna will not lock on at all and the antenna will stow and display the message you mention above. This would also happen if the LNB is not wired correctly, LNB is bad or there is any kind of a configuration error.

I just changed out the dish and lnb setup. The base label shows LG2112
I found that by pushing the power button again the unit powered off
Hmm, Do a manual search for 195?
Since the fcap picture appears to have a piece of copper wire in the center, I'm wondering if it doesn't do more than weatherproofing.
Winegard is closed for the holidays
I want my MTV! :D

It sounds like you are talking about one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Type-75-Ohm-Termi ... B000AAN76Y
If so, one of these is required on all unused F-connection outputs. I don't think that's enough to cause your current issue but I guess you could start there. When the dish stowed with the display still lit (primary satellite not found) pushing the power button would turn off the display.

Yup-that's the "fcap"

"When the dish stowed with the display still lit (primary satellite not found) pushing the power button would turn off the display." Not sure what you mean. I never saw a "primary satellite not found" message.

I did go into the dreaded "diagnostics" (for professional use only) and found it wasn't set for multi-sat. I changed that but still no love.
