Problems with Satellite 119

Postby slallen » Sat Dec 22, 2012 6:52 pm

We are at a campground in Southern California and set up our new Carryout a few days ago and activated our Dish 211k receiver. Everything works fine except we can't get any channels that are on satellite 119. We have the dish facing the south with no obstructions. Any suggestions?

Were you able to get a successful Check Switch outcome? What switch type is listed there and which satellites?

The switch is SW64 and the satellites listed are 110, 119, & 129 under "Satellite Input."

Other than something blocking the line of sight to the satellite I can't think of anything off hand that would cause you to receive 2 but not 3 satellites. If you go to Menu, 6,1,1 and select satellite 119 and transponder #11 what do you see for signal strength?

When I do that, it has a red bar and says "Wrong Sat-EchoStar110 West" with a signal strength of 55. I don't know what that means. Sorry, but I'm new at this.

So, let's start over. Assuming you are absolutely positive that there is no chance in heck that the signal from the 119 satellite is being blocked.....Turn off the antenna. Go to the receiver menu and hit 6,1,1. Bring up 119 and transponder 11 and leave that screen up on your TV. Now, turn on the antenna and it should lock onto the 119 satellite with a green bar and a message at the bottom that says Locked 119. If that does not happen you either have a receiver problem or your line of sight to that satellite is blocked. If it does lock then I would suggest that you then run the Check Switch procedure again. Be sure that you do this right away after it is locked and the antenna is no longer peaking as you only have 6 minutes to complete the check switch routine. Once successful, click on the Done button and then let whatever downloads it wants to do take place.

I ran the check switch a couple of times and moved the antenna a few feet, and everything is good now! Thanks so much for listening and assisting. I really, really appreciate it. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
