wbonta123,

We may have two different problems here.

First, the H25 isn't compatible with the SK-3005 in it's stock setup. The H25 is a SWM-only receiver, so the only way to get that to work with the SK-3005 is to add a SWM-840 kit.

Second, the H21 should be working but may have a configuration issue. Try to verify the configuration as per this document to see if you can restore functionality on it: http://www.winegard.com/kbase/upload/re ... irectv.pdf

As an additional note, when the DTV guy changed your home setup to allow the use of the H25 he would have had to have installed a new SWM antenna and/or hardware. That means he also set your H21 to SWM in the receiver setup menu. As mentioned above you will be able to change that back following the link. In the future you could install the SWM-840 kit which retails for around $180 and you will once again be able to move the receivers back and forth without any setup issues.
I do want to emphasis that the H25 simply will not work without adding the SWM-840 kit so "today" you would just be getting the H21 setup to work in the RV. You will need the B-Band Converter in your RV until you add the SWM kit and at that point the BBC's are no longer used.

Bill,
You are absolutely correct - when the tech. came to "fix" my receiver problem, he did end up installing a new dish.

Can the SWM-840 kit be installed on the roof of my RV by the dish? And where can I find the SWM-840 kit?

It is frustrating to have the tech show-up to solve a problem and create more issues. I was very clear to the tech that I used my receivers in my RV and that I didn't want anything to interfer with that. I would assume that he knew he was installing a system that would not be compatible in my RV. Also, it would appear that DIRECTV must be going to installing H25-700 in all new installs and replacements as that was the only type of receiver he had in his van. Thanks for your help!! I have talked to DIRECTV three times in the last month and to others that have satellite systems and this is the first time that I have found someone with the right information. DIRECTV customer service couldn't even answer if I still needed the B-band converters, as I thought that might be part of my problem. Anyway Thanks for your help! I look forward to your reply.

The SWM kit is installed on the roof beside the antenna and some hardware is added inside the coach. Here is a guide for setting up SWM.
http://www.winegard.com/kbase/upload/2452242.pdf
You can order the SWM hardware directly from Winegard Customer Service at 800-288-8094.
Despite the assumption that the DirecTV installer knew better, it's much more likely that he did not have any idea that what he was doing would have any effect on the use of your receiver in your RV. Remember that nothing you have installed on your RV was built by DirecTV but rather is a creation of the RV market. DTV does not know (and will not concern themselves with) RV's or their equipment. It's the RV industry that must make the adjustments to the satellite industry changes. The SWM kit addresses that for existing customers and Winegard will likely address the future direction of DirecTV systems going forward.
Let us know if you need anything else.

Bill,

I want to Thank You for your help! DIRECTV sent me a replacement receiver (H24) to switchout the H25 which was not compatible without the additional equipment. I know I will have to go through the satellite setup when I put the receivers in my RV. That is a small price to pay so that my RV system works. Thanks again for your help.

wbonta123,

One thing with the H24 that you'll need is a B-Band converter. It's an adapter that goes on the back of the receiver that will combine the Ku and Ka signals to get all programming.

Here's a picture of one:
