Thanks in no small part to information from this forum, I’ve been using a Carryout 1518 for tailgating in Columbia, SC with no issues for three years. Two weeks ago I had my first encounter with an error screen that made me wonder if there were signal strength issues. I wasn’t at all sure that was the problem, but I figured that I would give the Western Arc a try this week as people have recommended it in the past. I was able to locate and tune the Western Arc easily enough, but my unfortunately my locals were not available in HD, so it’s either back to Eastern Arc or go with the Hybrid setting using 61.5 which has my HD locals. Considering that I’m only using the dish in this location, is there any technical or practical advantage to using 110/119 instead of 72/77? I have full line of site to both.
One more related question. I’m accustomed to there being a few seconds of delay associated with satellite (i.e. on TV team is about to kick a field goal when suddenly fireworks are going off in stadium). This week using the Western Arc the delay on the ESPN HD signal was much more pronounced than I’ve ever experienced. It felt like it was easily 10 seconds or more. Is that something associated with the Western Arc or was it more likely just a quirky issue for this week? The group next to ours had the same delay using a Tailgater, so I don’t think it was an equipment issue.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
