I have a 2005 Winnebago equipped with a Winegard digital tv antenna. When I hooked up the tv box from the house it could not locate the antenna. The antenna connections appear to be in good condition. Where do I start trouble shooting this p?roblem

Could you tell us a little more about what you are trying to do? If you are trying to get satellite TV via a DirecTV receiver, what model # receiver are you using?
You also have to ensure you are connecting this receiver to a satellite TV antenna or dome and not the digital over-the-air TV antenna. If you have a satellite antenna as well as your OTA antenna, what kind of a satellite antenna do you have?

Im trying use my home direct tv box while on the road. The camper is equipped with a winegard dish antenna. The owners manual does not give a model number but it appears to be a rm4600 or a rm dm 46 compared to photos on the winegard web site. The direct tv receiver is a model hr24 100.

The first thing you will need to do is use this document to make the proper changes to your satellite receiver.

With that setup and using the receivers built in signal strength meter you will raise the dish to the required elevation and then using a compass figure out what general direction you need to point the antenna. Once you get close then you will slowly move the antenna left and right through about 20 degrees. If nothing is found you can raise the dish 2 degrees and swing again. Now lower it 4 and swing, raise it 6 and swing, etc. Once you see any indication of a signal on your receiver you will know that you are close enough that very small adjustments will bring in a signal. You need something above 50 for a picture but 90's are possible and you should work toward 70+.
