Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129I installed the Traveler 1000 on my 5th wheel with the thought that I would get all of Dish Networks sat's, at this time only 110, 119 no 129 which I would enjoy. I'm using Dish receiver VIP-211K at the same location as my home Dish net receiver which receives 129 no problem. The receiver in the rv in the switch test program indicates that 129 LNB is connected but no power. Please help can't afford to loose any more of my hair.
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129With the Trav'ler deployed, take a look at the controller display. It should read *119 *110 *129. The star * in front of each number is important. Is this what you are seeing in that display?
When you go into the menu and click on the Check Switch button, what does is show (before you start the test) for the Switch Type. If it does not show DPP 1k.2 I would suggest that you connect the receiver to the home antenna and do a new check switch routine. Verify that the check switch reads DPP 1k.2. Once this is done you will not have to do another check switch as the home and Trav'ler antenna use the same setting. Let us know more about the details I have asked about and what you do.
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129Control display--*119 *110 *129
Info from switch test: Satellite input Status: connected to DPP 1K.2, 4 port Port1 DPP 1K.2 119 Even, Odd-- Port2 DPP 1K.2 110 Even, Odd-- Port3 DPP 1K.2 Good Connection, No Signal Port4 External LNB None No Connection Do you think it might be a bad LNB? Thanks for the help
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129Something is wrong in the receiver setting and not the Trav'ler or you would not be seeing all 3 *'s.
The issue appears to be with the switch as it should only read DPP 1K.2 the "4 port" message appears to be the issue. I would suggest that you remove the cable(s) from the back of the receiver Satellite In connection(s) and run a new check switch. This will take some time so go have a beer. When done you should have a message that less satellites were found to which you want to say Yes, Save. What you should now have is no switch detected and no satellites shown. Now, reconnect the cables and get back to Menu 6,1,1 and click on Check Switch. It should begin a test 1 of 4 and complete the routine in less than 5 minutes and return DPP 1K.2 (only). At this point click Save and then Done. When you do you will find that you are not done and a download will begin. Despite the Stop button, do not click on Stop and allow any downloads that appear. Continue to the end until you are watching TV but don't interrupt anything.
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129skypilot,
What city and state are you attempting to use the Trav'ler in?
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129skypilot,
What city and state are you attempting to use the Trav'ler in?
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129Eugene at the 44 parallel. Just to fill in what Bill asked me to do I followed as requested twice with no success.
One thought, I was cruising the net and came upon a picture of the Trav'ler and the reflector looks different than mine Mine says Dish "TurboHD" this dish is bigger than my home dish, is this the proper reflector for the Trav'ler?? Something easel the power on 110 is about 60% and 119 about 28%. I have had C-Band and tuned my dish to peak by my self. I have a sat meter and tried it on the Trav'ler and pushed on the dish in different directions the Trav'ler had tuned as good as it could be. Any help would be appreciated Louie
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129Those signal strength numbers are way to low and an indication that the reflector (dish) has been damage (this is only my personal opinion). I may have mis-spoken earlier if your home dish does not look the same as the Trav'ler. It should look the same and you should have one single dish, or a slightly older version, that has 3 (and only 3) LNB's In what State is the city of Eugene located (there are several)?
You will not be able to adjust your dish manually so we need to determine what's wrong. Did you clear the check switch and then run another? Are you still showing the 4-port (bad and wrong)?
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129Sorry that location is Eugene Oregon. To answer your question Bill I cleared the switch with the same results
4-port (bad and wrong), next I hooked the receiver up to the home dish and did a test switch which resulted in 119, 110, & 129 all showing good, then I hooked it back to the Trav'ler and cleared the switch's and retested with the same old results 4-port (bad and wrong). I just purchased the Trav'ler second hand, it was in the box and looked brand new. Thanks for all of your help.
Re: Traveler 1000 Dish no sat 129Are you getting the 4 port part of the check switch result when you do the check switch on your home antenna as well or only when connected to the Trav'ler?
I have seen a situation (once) where my antenna showed the * but the signal was actually too weak to be usable. Is there any possibility that your RV is in a location where the 129 could actually be blocked (even partially? If you RV is lower than your home antenna the alignments aren't the same and things that don't block that antenna could block the RV antenna. Just a thought. By the way, if you do get a good check switch on the home antenna (DPP 1K.2) then you never have to run another no matter where the receiver is located. Just move the receiver and watch TV.
