B-Band Converter

Postby Jaccib » Tue Oct 02, 2012 8:40 am

I have the carryout satellite and am trying to use it with my Directv receiver. The manual says to make sure the b-band converter has been removed. Can anyone tell me if the converter is on my receiver or on my satellite? Thanks very much.

This is what B-Band converters look like:

They are installed to the back of the receiver (HD receivers only) between the Sat in connection and the coax cable from the antenna. At least one of the DirecTV HD receivers, the H23 I believe, have the BBC's built in.
The most important thing about getting your receiver working properly with the Carryout is to follow the receiver setup guide found here:

Thanks very much, this is quite helpful. My received is the H25, I will check with Directv to find out if the converter is built in . Thanks again!

Jaccib,

The B-Band converter is not built in to the H25 but unfortunately the H25 is a SWM-only receiver and isn't compatible with the GM-1518 without additional equipment (SWM-840 kit, roughly $170 + tax/shipping).

Honestly, getting a compatible receiver is a better course of resolution than adding the SWM kit. With the SWM kit, you're adding more wiring, more equipment and reducing functionality (the antenna won't be able to toggle).

Can you tell me which receivers will be compatible?

Jaccib,

Any DirecTV receiver but models H25 or HR34.

Compatible receivers commonly found today include: D12, R16, H24 or HR24, but if you find a different model that isn't H25 or HR34 it should work provided it is in working condition.
