update batwingI have a 1986 model motorhome with a winegard batwing antenna. can it be updated with a wingman antenna ?
Re: update batwingI do not believe so as I do not believe that would be an amplified antenna. I believe that your best choice would be to install the new Sensar IV and an the correct power supply inside the coach.
Winegard tech support should be along on Monday to verify that info.
Re: update batwingit is a amplified antenna I believe as it has the outlet plug with a switch and led.
Re: update batwingIf that is the case then you are still going to want to update the antenna to the Sensar IV and not just add a Wingman. The electronics in the Sensar III are improved over any of the earlier Sensar units and a Sensar IV is simply the Sensar III with the Wingman built into the mold.
Re: update batwingdoes the power units in the rv with the switches coax outlets and led need to be uograded to digital or do they just supply 12vdc ?
Re: update batwingThere is no such thing as a digital update. TV has always been broadcast on UHF and VHF frequencies and it still is today. What you want to improve is the UHF reception (i.e. the Wingman) where most of the new digital programming is now being broadcast. All of your existing hardware will work unless you still have the older analog TV's (big, giant, tube type TV) in which case you just need the digital to analog converter for each TV (or replace the TV).

Re: update batwingI have a digital tv I get no channels now with the batwing. i got up on the roof and checked and I have 12v at the coax going into the antenna. the tv will scan and show 7 channels but none will stay tuned no matter where i turn the antenna. I am less than 25 miles to any station but my rv is betweeen 2 houses blocking my antenna reception I guess. I hope I have better reception elsewhere but am not going anywhere till next spring. just want to make sure it works. i am hoping the wingman would be enough without springing for a whole head replacement
Re: update batwingwell I spent a good part of the day troubleshooting the antenna there were coax missing for the power panel to the tv. there was miswired 3 way connectors and cables to no where and bad connections. I now have 9 channels and hope that a wingman will get me more and a bit better signal on the others. I bougt the motorhome used and am going through everything system by system. the tv was the last and as scred up as the rest was but fixable. still need to know if the wingman will fit an 1986 or there abouts model sensar. ?
Re: update batwingcan anyone at winegard tell me if my vintage 18986 sensar is upgradable with the wingman?
Re: update batwingbat078,
The Wingman unfortunately will not attach to a head from the 80s.
