Message 771A Receiver stuck on SWM settings.

Postby johnc728 » Mon Sep 03, 2012 11:04 pm

Directv system Wineguard Slim-Line Travler SK-3005. Receiver Directv HD DVR HR21-100. The receiver is normally connected to SWM for the house, but I do move it to my Motor Home, and that's the problem. The dish on the Motor Home (SK-3005) and the receiver are only two months old. It's only been in the Motor Home once and it was set-up professionally and it worked very well. The receiver was moved back to the house, and when I tried to set it back up to the Motor Home that's when the problem started. The receiver seems to be stuck on the SWM settings and it won't let be configure to Multi-Switch. I get this message there ia a problem communicating with the satelitte (771A) cabling. The receiver goies through start-up-searching signal-running receiver self check-step 1 and 2 checking satellite settings. Then it goies to 0% complete, and in about two minutes goes to MESSAGE PROBLEM COMMUNICATING WITH SATELLITE (771A). I go the Direct menu under start-up and it's blank, there is no satellite settings to configure. If I go to repeat set-up it shows choose your dish configuration settings. The only settings it shows is the SWM settings and I can't change those settings. It stuck
on SWM settings and I can't configure my SK-3005 Multi-Switch settings. I even took the receiver to the roof of the Motor Home and connected two good short cables to the receiver with a small TV and still got the same message. I run two b-band converters. The receiver works well in the house with SWM.
PLEASE HELP. By the way the dish shows it's connected to three satellites with a asterisk for each. JOHN C.

I don't know what you are doing during the setup routine but one thing I had to do to get a receiver out of SWM was get the SWM highlighted and then hit the number 1 on your remote rather than try to select one or the other. If you cannot get it set to multi-switch you cannot move on as you will not receive a signal.
You can also try selecting a different antenna type. #5 Slimline 5 is the correct setting but you can try setting it to 18" round which will force it to multi-switch. Run the setup routine and then return to set it to #5 Slimline 5.
