RoadTrip Mission DirectTv receiver compatability

I just purchased a new Tiffin motorhome with RT Mission in motion system and have tried to move the DirectTv D-11 receiver from the old motorhome with a KVH system to the new unit and nothing seems to work.

What do I need to do to be able to connect to DirectTv? Is the D-11 compatable? Is there a new receiver that will work directly without having to purchase the SWM8 and associated equipment?

Your D11 will do just fine. No special equipment required.
Tiffin uses component connections (audio plus RBG) for TV and your D11 does not have this available, however. You first need to get the D11 setup so you have a good picture on the TV (even if it's just the bouncing DTV logo) and then we could troubleshoot the issue using the DTV menu setup and ensuring the antenna is doing it's job.

My D-11 does have component outputs on the back. I have not been able to get either of the tv's to recognize the receiver to get the bouncing logo so must be doing something wrong.

The coax wiring installed has confusing tags, one says tripod, one says sat in, two are connected to each other and one says sat 2 to dvr and other say drvr to sat rear tv. Then there are 2 component male pins with black bodies, one having a red band and the other white band, they are labled audio. There are 3 component male pins with white bodies one with green band, one with blue band, and one with red band; they are labled video.

I am at a loss.

Since the D11 cannot output HD I would guess that you only have the Red/White audio and Yellow video (composite) output. These will not connect properly to the 5 cable RGB/RW cables that Tiffin installs. You might be able to get a picture of some kind but it will likely be black and white.
Most Tiffin owners end up installing an HD receiver just so they don't have to work around this issue but you might also be able to swap cables on the back of your TV(s) to utilize the RWY connections. I understand that getting to the back of some of the TV's can be tricky.
As to the cables from the roof, you want to connect the Sat 1 cable to the Satellite In connection on the receiver. Since this is a used setup you will also want to go up on the roof and verify that the antenna is setup for DirecTV and not Dish or Bell.

It sounds like the D-11 will not do just fine. So is it your recommendation to get a new receiver and if so what receiver do you recommend? If I get a new receiver does this mean having to get a SWM 8 and associated splitter and power supply?

Also you mention that many Tiffin owners solve the problem by getting a HD receiver; however everything I see about the RT Mission is that it does not support HD and the only service available is Satellite 101 SD.

You are confusing the stupidity of Tiffin installing a dome and installing component cables with Winegard building an a dome. Some users want a dome. Others want HD. Others are Dish customers and others are DirecTV customers. You have an SD receiver that will not work (without modification) with what Tiffin installed (an HD system with a non-HD dome). I am not sure where all of your questions about SWM come from but all but 2 of the DirecTV receivers work perfectly without any SWM setup. Just be sure to avoid the H25 and HR34 receivers.
Tiffin owners solve the Tiffin mis-match by using an HD receiver which only receives HD in order to use the hardware installed by Tiffin.

Bill: Thanks for your reply, I agree with you that Tiffin is stupid. I finally gave up last summer and waited until I got home to try and use by HD reciever from the house; however it is a H-25 and will not work with Tiffin's component wiring to get a signal to the TV. I finally got someone at Tiffin to tell me that I needed to get a H-24 receiver in order for the signal to get to the TV.

So I am now getting ready to hit the road for the summer and I am planning on getting a new H-24 receiver. My question is do I need to purchase the B-Band convertor?

If you are using the dome for reception you will not get any HD and the B-Band converters are only necessary for the reception of HD.

I did not mean to say that Tiffin (as a whole) was stupid. I just find their setup and wiring for all those HD TV's to be a bit limiting and confusing.

I have a KVH tracvision A5 on my motorhome with a Hughes receiver that came with it for DirectTV - the satelite unit on the roof is malfunctioning and I would like to replace it with a RoadTrip Mission - will the receiver I have from the tracvision be compatible
