Swithing to Directv

Swithing to DirectvI have a 2001 motorhome with a manual sat antenna(don't see a model number). It has worked well with a Dish receiver for years. Now I have switched my SAT service to Directv and tried to take the receiver from the house to the MH. The receiver says SWM on the antenna connection and nothing works. Help!!
Re: Swithing to DirectvIf the DirecTV receiver is a model H25 or H34 series receiver you are correct, the receiver will not work properly without the addition of some extra hardware (costs about $150).
However, if the receiver is not one of the above it will be capable of either SWM or multi-switch operation and you would just need to go into the Repeat Satellite Setup routine and make the necessary adjustments. You can find the receiver setup information at the link below here using the MP1 as a guide line as they would operate the same. http://www.winegard.com/receivers/setup ... =image_mp1 Bill

Re: Swithing to DirectvThanks Bill...Happy Travels
Re: Swithing to DirectvThe SWM-840 retails for $169.99.
I would say it's much easier and cheaper to just get a different DirecTV receiver. We sell the D12 for $69.99 + tax/shipping and that would be perfect for your application. It's only a SD receiver but the antenna you have will only receive SD signals for DirecTV.
Re: Swithing to DirectvI'll check with DTV to see if thats to my benefit. I have only had the receiver for about 6 mos. There may be an issue with activating another receiver and/or they may not want to take the H25 back??
Re: Swithing to DirectvThere is no real issue. You can add additional receivers to your account without any problem. You do pay an extra $6/month for each additional receiver on your account but you can cancel service on the receiver if you will not be using it for an extended period of time.
You can call DTV or you can call Winegard but you will get the best information available to an RVer by calling Winegard. DTV knows nothing about (and cares nothing about) RVers so having someone who understands what can be done can be a great benefit. Bill
