General Use of the HD DVR

Postby csruff » Wed Jul 18, 2012 9:22 am

I have just had a new 3005 installed and had DirectTV install the HD DVR. All seems to be working correctly. My question is one I can't seem to find in the manual. For my DVR to work must the dish be deployed? If I am not in the MH do I leave the system on so that it can record my shows? When I pull into a site ... for instance, I am about to go to a place where I will stay for 3 months ... is the system left on that entire time or do I turn it on and off daily?

csruff,

You should be able to find a manual for your DVR if you get the model number and get on DirecTV's website.

The antenna must be locked on signal for the DVR to be able to record, thus it must be deployed with a locked indication on all three satellites.

You can turn the control box off but leave the antenna up (thus the antenna uses no power) by pressing and holding power and select for several seconds. This will leave the antenna in position but not use any power for several months no end.
