I just got the ms 2000. I have an old cable split filter on the outside of my house splitting from 1 to 2 out there. Do I have to use the included power injector and if so can it go outdoors or only indoors? I also wondered if it can be completely replaced with the hda 100? Alternately could I run the cable in one room use the power injector upstairs and then get another for the other th downstairs both attached prior to attaching to the tvs themselves? Thanks.
Also, it came with a ps 1503 power supply. If I were to use that for my upstairs tv, could I get a ps 1403 and use that downstairs with both ps units being attached prior to the connection being made to the tv?
The splitter input is connected to the TV port of the injector. The splitter outputs go to the TVs. Putting the splitter between the injector and antenna will not allow the DC voltage from the power supply to get to the antenna preamp. The MS 2000 instruction amnual states this explicitly.
Using the HDA 100 and its power supply in place of the injector will not work either. The HDA 100 does not allow the DC voltage from the power supply to get to the antenna.
The HDA 100, a distribution amp, would be used only if you have a long cable (from the antenna to the injector plus the run from the TV port of the injector to the actual TVs), (greater than 100 feet) and are in need of more signal to drive the TVs. The HDA would be placed only after the long cable run so it does not get overloaded by the amp in the MS 2000.
What if I were to use a power passing splitter?
Replacing the outdoor splitter with a DC passing type, properly connected, should work.
