Winguard Movin View

I have a Bell 9241 and can only get 1 satellite to show. Would not be an issue but I would like the other Bell satellite instead. Have done the check switch and get an error message that it sees fewer than the usual satellites. sat 91 but non for 82. Dip switches are set correctly as stated in the manual. I have a clear view of the satellites cording to my IPone app.

power up the receiver
Do a check switch and save results
connect satellite cable
power up satellite
let it find the satellite
signal strength is ok on sat 92
get nothing when I select sat 81
do check-switch and get an error message of fewer satellites .
switch shows "none" can not get it to see an sw42

Am I doing something out of sequence?
What part has the sw42 in it, might have to replace it.

You can follow the instructions here:
http://www.winegard.com/kbase/upload/re ... s_dish.pdf
It's important to leave the antenna off while you turn on the receiver, turn on your TV and get to the setup screen, select the 82 satellite and transponder BEFORE turning on the antenna. With this screen up you can turn on the antenna and allow it to lock. Once the antenna locks you have 6 minutes to complete the check switch routine. It it is an in-motion antenna you must wait until the antenna goes to sleep (no longer making that churning noise) before doing the check switch routine. This takes about 6 minutes as well. Hopefully, you will get a check switch that indicates 82 and 91.

Hi Bill
I tried the to get it to work as you described but still no results, the receiver just does not see a switch. I can view tv from sat 91 but will not see sat 82. I modified my first post to show the steps I used with no luck.

I may be reading things incorrectly but it sounds like you are allowing the antenna to lock onto 91 and not 82 before doing the check switch routine. Have you tried getting everything setup for 82 first and see if you can get a lock?

ronfire,

The standard dipswitch setup is for 91 as the primary. Trying the dipswitches for 82 may be worthwhile (2, 4, and 7 down).

Is this an in-motion system or stationary?

This is a Wingard RV unit that automatically finds the satellites when you are stopped and turn it on.
I tried to have it find sat 82 but it did not find it. I will try the dip switch settings above and see if that helps.
Will it not find the sw42 switch unless it sees both satellites?

ronfire,

It should install SW42 on the switch with 91/xx if 82 is not available by line of sight.

The receiver appears to be a dual tuner, so we need to make certain of a few things to make sure our configuration is OK.

-Make sure that we are not using a separator to combine two cables into one.
-On the point dish screen, make sure when we are locking to 91, that we are set on tuner input 1. Also, make sure that we have the primary coax cable from the antenna (the coax that connects to the electronics box) running to satellite input 1 on the back.

It's possible that we have a misconfiguration that isn't allowing the antenna to toggle, or we could just have a line of site issue.

The receiver locks on to sat 91 and according to my IPone app I have a clear line of site to sat 82. I have only 1 cable from the dish to the receiver with no spitters or combiners. There is a box on the wall that has 2 outlets, one for cable and I think it may have an amp in it. I will try to bypass it and go direct, it may be the problem. I know on the other outlet I get nothing on the receiver. I will haul out the receiver to the trailer tomorrow and try again with some of the above suggestions
