Is there a better amplifier than the Winegard wall plate?

Postby UPbuilder » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:29 pm

I am in a difficult area to get tv signal and my Winegard wall plate amplifier is only working intermittently. I know what's wrong and I can fix it(cracked solder joints from cable in wall pulling on board), but I'd rather get a better amplifier if there's one available. I have the Sensor IV and Wingman on my TT. Thanks in advance!

Btw, it needs to be 12v as I almost exclusively boondock without shore power and do not want to run an inverter.

UPbuilder,

The amplifier is actually in the antenna head, not in the wall plate. The wall plate is a 12V on/off switch that will send 12V up to the antenna head. If it isn't passing +12VDC, the amplifier is not getting powered up and the antenna's functionality will be drastically reduced.

Thank you! I went out to look at what I have and took some pics. I bought this antenna while redoing an old Sunline camper and later bought the wall amplifier not know that there was an amp in the antenna head. Can you give me a part #, description or anything that will help me get the right wall plate. Pics below of what I have, antenna head and wall amp.

Ok think I've got it all figured out now. Here's the description from one I found

RV Winegard Wall Plate Power Supply Receptacle

Wall plate/power supply provides +12VDC to antenna and +12 volt receptacle as well as antenna signals to two TV sets. Cable input from outdoor jack connects to wall plate and may be switched so either antenna or cable signals may be watched.

For use with Winegard amplified antennas only.

I bought the Sensar Pro with the digital readout. Reception at my house is awful and I've never been able to get anything in the camper. With the new Sensar IV batwing, the Wingman and now the Sensar Pro I pulled in 2 stations which is remarkable, one had a signal of 97 the other in the 60's. Once I get a few miles out of town I should get quite a few.
