MP1Bought a used mp1 and had a very hard time getting a signal, 65-70 was the best, put the " old" directv dish up and got a 90 sig. What's up, is this just a had antenna to use?
Re: MP1It possible that the reflector of the MP1 has been "tweaked" just a bit. It's nearly impossible to see if it has. That was the idea behind put the reflector inside a hard case but there is nothing to prevent the owner from accidentally damaging it.
Depending on the age of the unit if could also have a bad LNB but they don't usually indicate a failure in that manner. While it would not surprise me that you are getting a bit less of a signal due to the smaller reflector side, you should be seeing substantially better than a 65-70. Be sure that you have the receiver type set to 18" round in the Repeat Satellite Setup routine and that you are checking the signal strength using the receivers Signal Strength>Signal Meter and that the signal you are reading is for 101 transponder 1. Re: MP1"tweaked" what happened if it did? Is there any fix?
Re: MP1If the dish has been bent (tweaked) is suspect the resolution is to buy and new MP1.
I suppose, in theory, Winegard might be able to sell you a new reflector but my best guess would be that the cost of the antenna is likely the most expensive part of the entire setup. If it is possible I am sure Winegard will respond and have you call tech. support for pricing information. Bill
