What is hybrid mode? The manual only gives dip switch settings for dish network eastern arc and regular dish settings

First let me thank winegqard-mobiletech.

I set up my Carryout for the east coast hybrid and everything went fine.

Here is my procedure for the Dish Network 722. I ran the primary feed from the Carryout to number 1 tuner on the 722. then ran the secondary port to tuner #2. This can be a temporary line. Power up the Carryout and wait as it tells you in the manual. Then run a check switch. In my case 119,110 and 61.5. This may take some time. Once this is done make sure you have all green boxes with SW64 being the switch. You may now disconnect number 2 tuner and remove the temporary line. If you plan on using tuner 2 leave this line hooked up or you may hard wire it through the coach. In my case this is difficult to do as there is no easy way to run it. I just ran it through the door for the temporary line. Once the check switch is done you will receive no errors if tuner 2 is disconnected.

The receiver will now down load the guide information. This can take several minutes. Once this is completed you should be all set to go.

Hi! I have the VIP222 and am in Idaho using the Carryout for the 1st time this weekend. What I noticed is that I too had to use both coax feeds. But, althought I subscribe to HD, when I ran the check switch, I got green boxes for 110 and 119, but a red X for 129. I reran the checkswitch several times with the same results. Yes, I did get the proper SW64 for both receivers. And, I do have the dip switches set for the normal Dish Network setup - not hybrid or eastern arc. According to the coverage map, I should have good 129 coverage here in Idaho (western Idaho right now). What is interesting, I still seem to get HD channels!

Now for a problem I noticed. I left the 12VDC power on all night and in the morning, before I turned my dish receiver back on, I heard the CarryOut searching (i have it mounted on the ladder mount accessory which is the back wall of my motor home and by the bedroom)! I had to run the checkswitch again. 2 days in a row now. Should I be cutting of 12VDC when not in use?

And, thanks for the info on using number 2 receiver only on initial setup if not using a second receiver. Good catch! Did you put the terminator plug back on the Carryout when you took off the temp coax run? Is it really necessary to reinstall the terminator plug?

I did put the cap back on to protect it from moisture. I would make sure the Carryout is level. I have found that 119,110 are very close. As you move more to pick up 129 you might be swinging far enough out of level so you can't pick up 129. Put a level on the surface and make sure the surface is level

There are several things that might be in play here with the 129 satellite.

The 129 could be blocked or partially blocked where you have the Carryout.

DISH Network has/had a glitch in their last batch of receiver software that is/was playing havoc with their check switch routine and you will often get just that result. DISH is aware of the issue and has been very good about getting it corrected and on some of their receivers this is no longer an issue.

As for the unit searching in the middle of the night, DISH Network takes over your receiver while they think you are sleeping. They use this time to run tests and update software. These tests will move it from satellite to satellite. There is a setting in your receiver menu that sets your receiver to update only with your permission. This might help otherwise, you will need to unplug the receiver and Carryout before bed to prevent this.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, my coach was level and I have the ladder mount accessory so the Carryout was at my roof level and had a 360 clear view of the sky. I had the "handle" pointed South as well.

I still do not understand why the Carryout was "searching" in the early morning around 6AM MST. The receiver was off (but still had power and I do understand how Dish does their updates).

Will be "testing" the Carryout again during the weekend and next week as we are traveling to the FMCA Western Rally.

If the receiver has power it will update.

at 6 am. is the unit starting a fresh search or just making a few moves then stopping a few moves then stopping...?

Yes, it is making a few moves then stopping, then making a few more moves and then stopping. Weird!
