compatibilty of winegard antenna

We bought a used 1999 Coachman with a winegard antenna. We are totally novices on this satellite tv for a RV. Would the winegard we have work with the dish network RV system.

It depends on the antenna that you're using. Is it a crank-up style satellite dish? If so, it should work for either DISH or DirecTV.

However, if it is a Batwing style antenna that looks like a airplane propeller, then it will only be capable of receiving over-the-air programming and not satellite.

Where do we go from here? Do we contact dish network and ask them?. We do have a receiver available that was used until our town got cable. Will it work?
