MS-2000 Alignment help

Postby Joe-RI » Wed May 09, 2012 12:54 pm

Hello:

I understand that the MS2000 is omnidirectional but not all channels are picked up in a perfect 360 pattern. I think the patterns shown in the manual use the connector on the antenna's underside as a reference point for the patterns.

I'm looking to align the antenna so I receive as many stations as possible, but to be honest I'm sorta unsure how exactly to do this. Can someone help guide me to align my antenna for best results?

I found a channel signal strength pattern for my area:

Thanbk you.

Good morning Joe -

While you can get technically close to the best signal by reading plots the best thing you can do is just a little self testing. Lock the MS-2000 in one position, run a channel scan and record the signal strength of each station you are trying to peak. Rotate the MS-2000 45 degrees or so and run another scan, and so on.

Takes a little more work initially but then you will know you have the best setup possible for what you are trying to watch.

Thanks for the tip, I've been turning the antenna 1/8 turns then doing a rescan. I though this was wrong so thanks for letting me know this is the way to go.
