Caryout 1518gm specs.

The spec sheet shows that the voltage must be between 13.8 and 12 volt for the Carryout 1518gm. I want to use the 12 volt recepticle built into my 5th wheel for its power. However, when I am connected to shore power or using solar power the battery charger puts out up to 14.2vdc and the voltage could go to 15 volts if the charger decides to equalize the batteries. Does this mean the Carry out will not be compatble with my 5th wheel?

While the 14.2 will not be an issue, I am not sure I would use the Carryout while you were in equalize mode (once a year or so). We will have to wait to see what Winegard says but that would be a time where I would shut the unit off. Even with the power to the antenna off, it will still function. If you are a DirecTV customer you will still get all of your programming. If you are a Dish customer you will get all of the programming from the satellite you were pointed at when you shut the power down.

Thanks for your thoughts. My super smart multistage battery charger ;) , goes into some kind of desulphateing cycle every 21 days that briefly puts approximately 14.8 volts out to a lead acid battery. My solar charge controller cycles between 14.2 and 13 volts when not connect to the grid for fully charged batteries. It would be most helpful if Winegard would publish their specs to cover normal voltage produced from alternators, generators, multistage battery and solar battery charge controllers. There would be less confusion. Specs should mean something and should be followed and taken literally.

daver,

Engineering says there will be no problem running the Carryout at 15 VDC.

If you need anything else, let me know.
