There is an update and also a correction to this post. As of June 8, Dish is allowing a customer owned 211k to be active on a hopper account per Ray of the dish support forum.
On another note, winegard's statement regarding transporting the hopper was a liberal adaption from reality. The hopper can be offline from the node and the Joey would be unable to connect, but there is no magilla involved to get them back up and running. Imagine if every time the hopper was unplugged you had to call CS for them to tell you the steps to reconnect the joeys...
Do not overlook the importance of the node if you are taking the hopper on the road with you. There are listings on eBay for 20-30$ and the solo node I got also came with a type of splitter that could feed a Joey next to the receiver without running a second line to the node. My plan (30ft travel trailer) is to have the hopper in the LR, Joeys in MBR and bunk room. I have a 1000.4 ea dish/triple LNB on a tripod with the solo node on the post feeding into the 2nd cable port under the "park cable" port. I reworked the winegard antenna booster power switch so that I can get direct access to the tv2 output and the cable in port from outside, without the switch interfering with the MOCA signal.

Here is the latest info from Winegard:
The Hopper/Joey will work ONLY with the SK-1000. No domes!!!
Despite the fact that it might work, this system is not recommended for an RV installation at this time.
A Joey receiver cannot function without a Hopper connected to it.
If a Hopper is removed from the home, any remaining Joeys in the home will no longer receive programming without another Hopper.
When reconnecting a Hopper to a Joey you may be required to link the receivers together again through the receiver menu.
The Hopper contains a hard drive which is not designed for use in an environment prone to excessive vibration and/or heat.
One user account cannot have a Hopper/Joey plus a standard receiver such as the VIP211K without paying for 2 full priced services.
