ms-2002 reception

Postby melonhead » Wed Apr 11, 2012 11:36 am

I live at 52761. I installed an MS-2002 and pick up WHBF (rock island) perfectly as well as the Iowa City stations. In addition if I move the unit out of my attic and place it on the roof I pick up the Cedar Rapids stations. I do not pick up any of the kwqc or wqad stations which seems odd because they are actually closer than the the cedar rapids stations. I have a single story home in a residential area with some trees around the area. I have not yet raised the antenna more than 18 ft from ground level. Do you have any suggestions?

Good morning melonhead,

Good TV reception is based on the TV antenna being installed at least 30’ high. With that being said you will want to raise the antenna as high as possible and even try different locations on your roof to see if you can find a location where you receive strong signal for channel 6 KWQC-TV and channel 8 WQAD-DT. Relocating an antenna even as little as 3-5’ from a location can make a big difference. Even though the MS-2002 is a omni directional antenna try rotating the antenna to see if that helps because the antenna does not have a perfect 360 degree receiving pattern on all channels.
