AS 2003 won't lock on 119

Our as2003 will give us fits sometimes-the dish will not lock onto 119-We have a Dish 522 reciever. It was working fine last month with no problems all the way to northern CA from Tucson AZ. Now it won't lock onto 119. It looks for the satelites then will time out and stop on 110. I have been in contact with a nice lady at tech support and she sent me procedures to tighten the elevator shaft in the transmission but this did no good. She also had me be sure that on the search screen I pushed 119 and transponder 11 or 19. Before I did this I ran a check switch operation without anything connected so that we would have a clean slate-still gives up and goes to 110. We moved locations 80 miles east with the same results. Tomarrow we are going to another location and will try to get a space facing to the south west and try again. Anyone have any ideas? Wondering weather to buy a Traveller 1000 to replace this dish-will there be much to change on the roof mount, ect?

First let me say that should you end up changing out your antenna for a Trav'ler you will be a very happy camper! You could fully utilize a dual tuner/DVR receiver since the Trav'ler will receive all 3 Dish Net satellites simultaneously. Neat system!
If you do replace your 2003 it is a complete swap out. You will not use any components (and likely none of the cabling) of your current antenna. You just remove what you have and replace it with the Trav'ler.

Just wondering if you ever got this fixed, i have an As2003 I purchased with my unit recently, your post is the newest on the forum with this unit. just wondering if a swap to another system was worth it. Thanks

I am having similar problems with my AS2003. The drive gears were slipping so I dismantled the unit. One of the drive shafts had slipped down. I put it back in position and tightened set screw. Locking the dish on to a satellite has always been hit or miss. Unfortunately, now the dish will not lock onto a satellite. All wires have been voltage tested and are correct.

I can see the signal get very strong as the dish passes through but the dish does not lock on. Is there a way to reset the dish "alignment" (for lack of a better term)?

It unfortunately sounds like the electronics on your AS-2003 may have failed. You can "trap" the signal by hitting the off button on the control panel while you are showing signal on your screen, but this may take some practice to master.
