RM-4600 Lost signal in windThe dish flops back and forth when there is any wind. I did not find any instructions in the manual about tightening it up. Is there such an adjustment? If so, can you give me some instuction, diagram or direct me to a web site? Thenk you
Re: RM-4600 Lost signal in wind-This is a common complaint with this series, to correct the problem you first need to determine where the problem is.
2. Rock the dish front to back and roughly measure how far it moves.
b. More than 1 ½ inches of movement is a problem, to fix it tighten the set screw on the elevation gear inside the turret. 3. Rotate the dish left to right.
b. More than 1/4th of an inch will cause the unit to lose signal in the wind. c. This can be corrected by changing the directional handle. Cut the new directional handle to be 1/8th inch longer than the one currently installed. If you don’t need to cut it, the handle is most likely too short and you need an extension. If you need an extension make sure you glue it to the directional handle to eliminate movement between the handle and extension. The directional handle is the only thing involved with rotation, if it isn’t long enough the dish will move in the wind
Set Screw in Elevation gearThank you nfor your response to my RM-4600 problem, however, I cannot find anything in the manual that shows any set screw. How do you open the turret? Do you take the gear out? I need more info. We had this installed (did not do it ourselves) and are not familiar with the inner workings.
Re: RM-4600 Lost signal in windThe set screw is on the inside of the gear housing.
The problem is far more likely to be the rotation but I will try and get a diagram up of how to tighten these screws.
