llmcgill,

Is the receiver installing only satellite 119 with the switch as SW64 (ie: Port 1 - 119 / xx / xx, switch: SW64) or are all three satellites installed with SW64 and you can only get signal on satellite 119?

I have just purchased a GM 1518 from Camping World. I live in Canada and have Shaw Satellite service. I was lead to believe that it was the same as Direct in the U.S. but I have not been able to get it to lock on. Am I doing something wrong or is the unit not compatible with Shaw?

I am not getting the dish to lock on to any satellite. I have a Motorola DSR 405 receiver if that helps.

The GM1518 will not work with the Shaw Direct service. It is only compatible with DirecTV, Dish and Bell Express Vu. The GM-0700 is another version of the Carryout and is (or was) compatible with the Shaw service. We will need to hear from Winegard as it will work properly with the new LNB setup needed for Shaw.

The GM-0700 is definitely compatible and is specifically for Shaw Direct and will work with the correct receiver map on a Shaw receiver box.

I have a Shaw DSR317 working fine in my home, but my GM-0700 picks up nothing. Yes, the dish is within 5 deg of level. Yes, I have checked that there is nothing obstructing the line of sight, and Yes, I have tried with different cable. The skew for my area is in the 80 zone. I have changed the skew in minor increments from 65 all the way to 90 and beyond with no positive results. I did once have the satellite lock on for a maximum signal strength of 20 when the skew was set at 90, but after shutting it off and turning it back on again received nothing.

The signal level bumps up only a couple of points when the dish passes what should be the satellite location, so I know something is happening, just not enough.

I called Winegard Tech Support, who apparently have around a 24 hour wait time to get through, so you leave your number and someone calls you. I guess the thinking is that everyone who has an RV sat system must be on vacation and have nothing better to do but sit in their RV and wait for the call. I received my first call-back almost 24 hours after leaving my number. I was busy on another call at the time. I call back right away, only to be put back in line again. Having not received a call-back by mid morning the next day, I called again and left my number again, thinking that if I missed the call again at least I was in the call-back line early this time. Well my call-back came, at 6:51am this morning - I didn't make it out of bed and to the phone on time. Good thing I got a another spot in line yesterday morning "just in case". Are you guys for real? I'm sure your tech support people are very friendly and helpful when they call, but if you're 40 miles from your RV system when the call comes a day and a half later, it doesn't matter. This is awful customer service. You've been in this business for over 50 years. Surely you can figure out by now when your busy times are and staff accordingly, unless you're another one of these corporations that now feel that profits are the number one priority and dealing with customers is just one of those inconveniences you have to put up with in the process.

I am not sure if this will work with the unit not locked on, but I am guessing that you have an issue with the Shaw LNB/receiver setup since they changed their setup. Here was the advice from an earlier post.

Re: dish alignment
Johnb,

It sounds like you have a receiver map conflict.

Tune your receiver to channel 700. If it comes in, then you need to contact Shaw and have your receiver remapped for a quad dual Ku LNB type.

I need the schematic for the VS-0503/5312 switch box. There is 12 volts to the box but only 4-5 volts to the antenna connector. I am reluctant to open the box without the schematic. Can you send me the schematic as a file, if available. There must be one in the archives.

Winegard did not manufacture the boxes so I doubt there will be such information available.

I bought a Movin View model MV3500a from Camping World on 11/20/05 and it has worked great with Direct TV but I am switching to Dish and can not get a signal. Anny ideas?
