SK 1000 in snow and ice conditions

Postby patmsp » Thu Sep 29, 2011 1:11 pm

I have a SK1000 on my class A RV. The rig will be left outside in MN this winter. We will be using the RV throughout the winter (but not continuously). If I raise the antenna and there is ice or snow on it, do I risk damaging the antenna, motor, etc? The antenna is on top of the RV so it is not that easy for me to see if there is anything on it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Pat,

You should try to keep the antenna clear of snow and ice the best you can. If there is considerable amount of snow and/or ice on it, it may cause a temporary motor stall, but the issue should be resolvable by clearing off whatever is stopping the Trav'ler from raising and attempting to raise it again.

Thank you... I just didn't want to permanently damage it.
