I just bought a carryout gm 1518 brought it to camp and got it set up on a nice clear day next day it was a little cloudy and i kept losing signal ?? I then went to the signal screen and was only getting at the best between 25 to 30 % at its best..I'm using dishnetwork reciever model # dp501, can this dish get any better signal ?? or is that it?? :(

Did you run the check switch routine when you moved that receiver to the Carryout? If not, you need to do so before you will get proper operation. It should show 110, 119 and 129 with a switch type of SW64. Be sure you do not have tree limbs or other obstructions as the view of the Southern sky must be unobstructed.

I did do a check switch and it did come up with the sw64 and shows 110 and 119 the receiver isn't a hd reciever so i don't need 129.

So it should be good unless you are near the edge of the Dish Network footprint or you have a slight obstruction.

That does sound like the issue. DN service is not very good as you approach and move into Canada, especially in Central Canada for some reason.
You can look in your manual for coverage maps or view the GM-1518 manual online here. Scan down toward the bottom.
