VIP 211k with Winegard Dish

Postby Colorado_Kid » Sun Jul 24, 2011 5:57 pm

I just purchased a VIP 211K receiver and have a AS-2003 satalite dish from Winegard. I know I call a number to get service from Dish Network but I am not sure how to get the dish to receive a signal or how to get the dish down when I leave the campground. Can anyone help?

The AS2003 was discontinued many years ago but it might still work. Once you have the receiver connected you should be able to push the find button and the antenna will lock on to 119. I am not sure if the 2003 was capable of finding 129 (HD programming) but it should lock onto 110 and 119 when you do a check switch. It should show 110, 119 (129?) and a switch type of SW64.
Once you have the antenna locked properly you will be able to call Dish (or Winegard) to have your service activated.

Thanks for the information. Could you tell me what a check switch is?

Go to the receiver menu and click 6,1,1. You will see the check switch option there.

So I tried my satalite dish this morning. I hooked up the VIP 211K and then set my dish in motion but I could not get a signal because I am around some trees. I went to set the dish back down so I pushed the Park button twice and the dish did not go down. I had to go up on the roof and just nudge the dish forward and then the motor came on and went down a little bit. I gave it another nudge and the motor came on again and went down the rest of the way. I think it is time for a new dish.

I think you are right! Take a look at the Winegard Trav'ler and you will never have to look back. It's a great antenna. Again, I don't work for Winegard, but I am a Winegard and MotoSAT TV antenna dealer.
