AP-8700 okay in hot attic?

Postby swartz » Thu May 26, 2011 7:12 am

Can the amplifier portion of the AP-8700 preamp (the piece that the antenna plugs into) handle the 130-140 degree temperatures at the peak of an attic?

My best antenna placement (just a cheap Radio Shack rabbit ears) seems to be at the very peak of the attic. I'm trying to decide between having the amplifier in the attic as well, or using a longer coax to bring it down 8 feet into the second floor, where it would be cooler. I'm already planning on having the power injector on the second floor. I know the amplifier should be as close as possible to the antenna, but I'm concerned about the extreme temperature swings in the attic.

Good afternoon swartz,

The AP-8700 is designed to operate from -40 to +140 degrees Fahrenheit.
