Alaska satellite service

Postby coarsegoldgg » Sat Apr 17, 2010 3:37 pm

I am driving to Alaska for the summer and need to understand if I will be able to get satellite service there. Does anybody have some information? I currently watch Direct TV in the lower 48.

Good morning coarsegoldgg -

It is possible to receive DIRECTV from Alaska but you would need a larger dish such as the 76cm or 1m dish found on this page... http://www.winegard.com/home/index.php.

The Winegard automatic systems such as the RoadTrip or Carryout will not receive signal in Alaska.

At this point in time for the maximum number of DISH Network receivers a Winegard satellite system can supply is three on the SK-1000.

With the SK-1000 each output can supply a connection to 2 tuners with the Dish Pro Splitter. In theory, if you could get one cable to a location where you could run the cable to one receiver and then use the splitter to supply that cable and then extend a cable from that splitter to the 4th receiver you would be able to control them all.
