RM-DM46

I have a RM-DM46 and a DISH Network VIP211k receiver. I understand that different DISH channels are transmitted via different satellites and that I have to manually point the RM-DM46 at each satellite to receive specific channels. In my testing it appears that I have to run the Switch Setup Test everytime I point the RM-DM46 at a different satellite. Is this correct or am I missing something?

With a manual satellite you do not have to run the check switch, the only time that a check switch is ran, is with an automatic system.
