GM 1518 Carryout

Postby teddy53149 » Fri Apr 22, 2011 1:28 am

I have been having trouble getting the unit to come up with the correct switch 64 for Dish. I have changed the coax, repositioned the dish and still no luck. I have followed the setup instructions from the manual and my results are "0".

We have the same problem. I have found that when you can not get the switch it is because you do not have a view of any of the satellites. i.e. an obstruction. Irregardless of the hype, the dish still needs to see that critical part of the sky. We have been on beaches with just one "obstruction" and have had to move the dome. When you are in the trees or a crowded RV park this really becomes an issue. We have trouble in these situations are are looking for a good answer as to how to deal with them. I know there are "holes" where the satellites can be seen, the question is how to "aim" the dome through them.
Hopes this helps at least some.

There are several different answers I could give you, for instance you could get a compass and find the south to south west location. What type of receiver are you using ( dual or single), are you going the through the outside outlet of the coach, are you letting the satellite lock onto signal before running the check switch? The satellite has to lock onto signal before running the check switch. Did you remove the receiver from your home?

The switch is not a physical part but rather a software driven switch controlled by the receiver when plugged into this type of antenna. You need to power on the unit with the receiver set to 119 and transponder 12 (or 11 or 19). Once it locks on and stops moving you must run a check switch within a few minutes so that the receiver can identify the necessary satellites and set the proper switch.
