MS 2002 Lost all signal

Postby depalmer » Sun Jan 16, 2011 7:23 pm

Hello.
I purchased an MS 2002 last January (2010). I've been very happy with it until yesterday morning. I woke up to have no signal on any of my televisions.I usually receive over 19 channels. Nobody had been anywhere near the antenna or wiring.

It is installed in my attic & runs down to a structured cable box in my basement. I also purchased the recommended distribution amp and used that with a 6-way splitter. It's been great for about a year. All power indicator lights are working properly. After reading some of the comments and troubleshooting I decided to replace the power supply and inline amp/power injector. I also disconnected the splitter and distribution amp to test it to a single tv via a simple 2-way splitter. I liked the first so much I ordered a 2nd MS 2002 for my father-in-law and used his power supply, cable, and inline amp/power injector. I did not grab his antenna). I don't own a voltmeter. I attempted this with 2 different televisions...rescanned on one multiple times with no positive results.

I also checked my cable and antenna in the attic to see if a pest had disturbed it and that the connection was still tight. Everything was fine.

Do you have any additional suggestions or have there been similar issues? I appreciate any help you have to offer. Thank you.

Since you do not have voltmeter the simplest way to test your antenna would be to substitute your father in laws antenna for yours or take your antenna over to you father in laws house to see if you receive a picture. Otherwise you can send a email to warranty@winegard.com and ask the for an RMA number to send your MS-2002, power supply, power injector, etc in under and Winegard will check everything out for you.

Thank you for your quick response. I picked up his antenna today and before connecting it, I decided to disconnect everything and reconnect it all (using his new power supply and power injector. It looks like I may have accidentally reconnected the wrong cable. I'll be swapping out the power supply to double check it. If it indeed does not work, I'll order a new power supply to replace mine.

Thank you.

Okay, I replaced my father-in-law's power supply with my original and it worked fine. I then replaced his power injector with my original and it still worked fine. So my setup is as it has been for the past 2 year, and everything is working fine.

Is it possible the power supply (transformer) or power injector would have gotten too hot or some other issue could have caused them not to work temporarily?

Thank you.

Good morning depalmer,

Typically you do not see a power supply go bad or heat up temporarily without another issue being the cause. Just keep an eye on it and if you do have continued problems please let us know.
