Need help picking antenna 78617

Postby ausbill32 » Wed Dec 22, 2010 12:13 pm

Hello,

I live in Del Valle, which is in the city limits of Austin, TX. I live in a single story house but unfortunetly, my compass path to the HDTV tower goes right through a few 2 story homes. Texas is relatively flat from my location to the city with no major obstructions other than these these homes.

My house is approx 15.3 miles from the local towers and to receive UHF/VHF stations compass readings are withn 1-4 degrees. I could probably get away with a directional but don't know for sure. I was hoping to be able to use an indoor antenna because my HOA is very restrictive about putting anything on the roof. I could probably do a side mount somewhere but preferr indoor antenna.

Any suggestions?

The antenna Winegard would suggest for your application is the FV-HD30 FreeVision antenna which can be used indoor or outdoors, remember the higher the antenna the better and outside is better than inside. You can go to the www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html (FCC Fact Sheet on Placement of Antennas) which will provide you with the restrictions/rules passed by Congress on outdoor antennas. This site will give you the information you need to go to your HOA about installing an outside antenna.
