What is the footprint of the SW-0010 tripod? (That is, how big a piece of plywood would I need to set it on if I wanted to put it in my attic and not punch through the ceiling drywall....)

The footprint of the SW-0010 Tri-Pod is roughly 36 inches x 36 inches. A piece of plywood that size would definitely hold the Tri-Pod.

Then just measure the distance between your boards in the attic and adjust to that to attach the plywood.
