Omnidirectional antennas

Omnidirectional antennasOmnidirectional antennas have a listed range of 0-30 or 35 miles. Given any reasonable signal strength above the noise margin of the amplifier in the antenna (assume a 3db nm), wouldn't the antenna work out to any mileage, as long as signal strength minus amplifier noise margin plus amplification to give a 15 or 16 db signal for the tv tuner be sufficient? Along a similar vein, why aren't antennas rated for signal strength in any given location rather than mileage since we have the availability of websites like tv. fool.com?
Re: Omnidirectional antennasGood morning Phil,
Winegard has struggled with giving "mileage" per antenna but has found that the majority of our consumers think in those terms. We continue to provide spec sheets with many of our manuals so those that understand more of the actual workings of antennas can see that information.
