Lengthening power/coax past 50 feet

Postby hummer52 » Sat Nov 13, 2010 2:54 pm

Can I extend the 50 foot length of the 12V power cord and coax supplied with the antenna without loss of antenna strength and/or working status ? I would splice into the power cord and use heavier guage wire, then just use a coax coupler for that line.........I am considering going another 50 feet, maybe further.

I have the GM-1518 Winegard Carryout Ant.

Tech Tip:
The 50' of cable that comes with the Carryout is more than enough for almost every application. If you must have the Carryout 100' from the RV, you can run the coax this far without problems. The power cable however, can not be extended without risking damage to the unit. You will need to find a power source closer to the Carryout.
