Until I get this figured out, this is my simple setup:
2 home made 8 bow tie UHF/VHF HD antennas
1 signal combiner
100 ft drop to splitter (Temporary length, will be 50-60 ft)
4 runs from splitter to TVs, 10-50 ft lengths
Majority of stations are 20-25 mi. away
Right now, 80% of stations are at 6-10 out of 10 bars which seems very good.
Now here is the problem, every so often a couple of the stations loss all signal for days up to a couple of weeks but that "couple of stations" will alternate between various stations. The BIG problem is these stations are ones that my wife watches so, yes I am def in both ears!
I can't see this problem being related to either of the antennas due to the 80% with good/excellent signal strength. I know I may be able to fine tune the direction of the antennas a bit but not much. I don't know if it could be an issue with atmospheric conditions (can't see that, no wind/rain/nothing for two weeks now).
I was wondering if the Winegard AP-8700 Preamplifier would help or hinder based on the good incoming channels.
Any help/thoughts or comments on this will be greatly appreciated!
