Can I convert a SK-1000 dish to SK-3005 direct HD

No. The elevation motor in the SK-1000 is smaller than the motor in the SK-3005. You would need to replace the turret also. You may as well buy the SK-3005. By the time you buy all of the new parts seperately you would basically be replacing the whole system anyway.

That was my question, I purchased a rv with a sk-1000 installed already and have direct tv contract for anouther year, you mean I can't change installation settings in box or change out just disk and pods and use what is already installed.

The motors are different in the SK-1000 compared to the SK-3005. The only way to do that is to change out the reflector and the arm/ LNB, but then you would not be able to get the High Definition for DirecTV due to the different size motors in the SK-1000. With the change of the reflector and arm/LNB, you would be switching the satellite to a SK-3003. The box would remain the same, you can go in and reprogam the settings. You cannot switch the SK-1000 to a SK-3005.
