TravelNet SpeedsWhat Speed can I expect to get from the Travelnet Internet antenna system. I would like to use it at my home and also in the motorhome when we are on the road. Can it be used in a portable application or does it have to be permanently mounted?
Re: TravelNet SpeedsThe speed will vary, depending on your location and your service provider (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, etc). All of those companies have coverage maps available to show what type of coverage they offer in certain areas. While in an area around a major city you will be in what they refer to as their "3G" coverage, in these circumstances download speeds will be faster. While not in a "3G" area, download speeds will again vary depending on location and provider, but the speeds will generally be slower.
Here is an example of Sprints coverage areas: http://www.sprint.com/coverage Here is an example of Sprints speed claims: "Sprint Mobile Broadband devices that are EVDO Rev A will operate at average download speed ranges from 450-800 Kbps with peak rates up to 3.1 Mbps, and at average upload speeds of 300-400 Kbps with peak rates up to 1.8 Mbps in Mobile Broadband (EVDO Rev A) coverage areas." Regarding its portability, the TravelNet system comes with 2 sets of antennas. 1 set is to be permanently mounted to the top of the RV. The other set is for when you'd like to take the TravelNet system with you somewhere. The performance of the TravelNet system (speeds and connection) will be greatest using the high gain outdoor antennas mounted permanently to the RV, but the system will be fully functional when connected to the other antennas.
