MS-1000 + AP-8700 = MS-2000?

Postby flyleaf » Sun Oct 10, 2010 12:29 am

I'm thinking of getting an MS-1000 omnidirectional antenna, but I have to feed the signal through maybe 120 feet of coax to the furthest TV, and at least 24.5 db worth of splitter loss along the way. So I was thinking I might need the AP-8700.

But then, could I get essentially the same result with the MS-2000? It would save me some $$$, but I want to be sure it's what I need.

We have to be careful using an antenna with a built in amplifier less than 20 miles from the TV stations. It is possible for you to receive too strong of a signal per channel which causes you to have more signal than the maximum total input signal the amplifier can handle and your amplifier will shut down and not produce a good usable signal for you. If you are only 10 miles from your TV stations you should have a strong signal level on each channel and with the use of an HDA-100 distribution amplifier ahead of your splitter system your output signals levels should be enough to power your antenna system.
