CA7084 modifications

Postby wintertime » Tue Sep 28, 2010 9:58 am

I have a 10 year old CA-7084 antenna that I have to move to a different location, while it was down I wanted to remove the back half as it no longer serves any purpose except balance. Where should I cut it or is it as simple as just removing the rear boom? Is there any place I cannot drill the new mounting points in the main shaft? Zip is 63383 and I use a Chromstar 2000 preamp. Thanks in advance.

The simplest place to cut the antenna would be behind the U bolts on the boom brace and the antennas main boom. This way the antenna will still be supported by the 2 booms. You can remove the VHF elements and VHF phasing lines going into the antenna housing that are left from the VHF (main) boom if you wish.
