GM-1518 and Direct TV

Just purchased the Carryout and hooked it up to the DTV non-HD receiver. Cannot get signal. Screen message continues to say "looking for satellite signal". Positioned Carryout to the south and then after many attempts, began to turn the antenna in multiple directions with no luck. Also checked that factory setting is set for DTV and it was. Per instructions, it states to ensure two satellites and to check receiver as to this. Per DTV receiver, does not discuss how. Any tips to get the Carryout to get signal? I need by mid-this week latest for use.

Good morning rdm -

The Carryout GM-1518 is a fully automatic system and besides running coax to the sytem and providing it power, it will find the satellites for you without you turning it. Please make sure you have a clear view of the southern sky and that the settings in your receiver menu are correct.

Confirm that your dish type is set as 18" Round Dish (with no degrees after it), and that the switch type is multi-switch. If this does not solve your problem please contact technical services at 800-788-4417.

Thanks. Follow-up question - I upgraded my Direct TV standard receiver to a HD one (model HD-24). I assume that while I will not get HD programming, I will still be able to get non-HD with this HD receiver? Thanks again for responding.

Yes, the Carryout GM-1518 will work with a DIRECTV HD receiver, but will not receive the HD channels.

Thank you for the response. One follow-up question -- will I have to change the settings, i.e., from multiswitch and LNB 18x20 to some other settings? Thank you again for your help.

You will need to be on multiswitch with 3 LNB 18" x 20".
