new antenna help

I am new to forum.I just had a radio shack antenna and amplifier replaced with a winegard 7697p model and distrubion amp.i do not get the reception i use to have and wonder if because the installer didnt use a pre amp this is my trouble.I have to reach out to 60 miles at times,and did this with my old antenna.My rotaor,amp were burned out in storm,so this was recomended.I have 40 ft tower,and 5 ft pole.my reception is not as good as old set up,pre storm.But i had a pre amp on old set up,and new one has distrubition amp.I have asked the installer to come back and fix problem.Help?????
