Winegard 7697P UHF Director Orientation?

Postby tjw » Tue Mar 31, 2009 2:18 pm

I recently installed a 7697P. It's working well except for my highest UHF channel (30) is weaker than I was expecting. When installing I noticed that all 4 UHF Directors seemed to have a different rotational orientation. Should the "wings" of the UHF director point straight up and down, or are they meant to be rotated a few degrees off of perpendicular to the main boom?

Good afternoon tjw -

It does not matter how the J shaped wings that are on the 2 long UHF directors point. The angle has no baring on how much signal is received.

If you would like to provide us with a bit more information including your zip code or private messaging me your full address we can run your situation by technical services and see if they have any recommendations.

Thank you for that information. I'm glad to hear I can stop climbing around on my roof :)

I was able to fix my issue with channel 30 this afternoon by cutting off a limb on the Black Walnut tree next to my house. Signal quality went from fluctuating between 30% and 70% to a more steady 75% to 85%. I'm not sure if it was just the fact that this is a higher frequency or if there was a particularly large branch in the way of the channel 30 tower, but my lower UHF channels were not effected and all the UHF towers are within 1 degree of rotation. Anyway, I'm very happy with the antenna.

Glad to hear your problem seems to be solved. It's amazing what a small thing like a tree limb can do to television signal but we see it all the time.

Enjoy your free tv!
