I have joined the Club W, member # 1000021 and I currently have the Winegard AS-2003 automatic satellite installed on my travel trailer. I installed this unit in 2004 and it has worked flawless until just recently. Under normal conditions the unit searches for the satellites and locks on satellites 110 and 119 But now the unit goes through its search mode and either does not lock on any satellites, or locks on to the wrong satellite, # 77 or just one of the 2 Dish satellites, 110 or 119, not both. I have checked switch but still the same problem. I have tried this in several locations facing different directions with the trailer level and get the same results. There are no clicking or popping noise during the search which appears to function normally as it has done in the past. This does not appear to be a Dish TV problem.

In discussion with Winegard technicians and through the Winegard forum I have been told that Satellite 77 could be the problem since the system works using triangulation between the 3 satellites and when it sees the 77 it throws the rest off. Satellite 77 came about after the AS-2003 unit was discontinued for a newer unit. I was told that I may be able to tighten the set screws to the two motors that may help it lock on the correct satellites but that also did not work. The only recommendation that I have now is to upgrade to one of their new Winegard units, either the Traveler or the Road Trip. I was told that at times there are refurbished units available from Winegard but I have not been able to find any information on this. I did call Winegard technical service and left a message but have not received a response.

As a current Winegard customer I would be interested in getting additional information If a refurbished Winegard Road Trip stationary model is available at a lower cost than the new unit from a retail outlet. I am a member of Club W, membership # 1000021. Thank you for your assistance.
