Hooking Up My Digital Converter

Postby Ken » Wed Mar 25, 2009 1:18 am

Hi,
I have a 2004 Itasca Suncruiser and am attempting to hook up my Digital Converter box. It has a Winegard Batwing with the power booster switched in the Winegard model# VS-0503/5312 video switchbox. It has two TVs and I want to use just one converter. I talked with a nice Winegard tech guy, Keith, who e-mailed a couple schematics but they showed a switchbox with RCA jacks, mine only has coax jacks. I don't need to record with my DVD/VCR but would like to use either TV for all the switchbox functions (Cable, Satellite, OTA, etc.)
Help?
Thanx,
Ken

Since you are not using the video switch to power your antenna, you can sneak in through the VCR.

You can run from the antenna's power supply to the converter box. Then from the converter box to the Antenna In on your VCR. This way, you just turn the VCR off and set the video switch to VCR for the television you want to watch the converter on.

Hummmm, thank you but now I'm more confused; "Since you are not using the video switch to power your antenna"? I thought I WAS using the video switch to power my antenna? And I have read many warnings about accidentally running 12v through the converter box and "frying" them.
Do you have another schematic?
Thanx,
Ken

I misread your post.

If you are using your video switch to power the antenna you wont be able to run back into the video switch to distribute the signal.

You will either need a seperate power supply or to only have the converter run one television.

Hummmmmm, I really thought there was a way to run through the VCR/DVD and still use the converter with BOTH televisions?

There is, it just requires a seperate antenna power supply.

Then you can use the first set of instructions.
