Help! MS 2002 Trouble

Postby amrrogo » Wed Mar 18, 2009 3:38 pm

Just bought a MS 2002 Omnidirectional Antenna. I set it up on an old Directv mast. All the connections seem to follow what's outlined in the instructions, but NO luck getting signal! I get 2 channels with very poor reception, and that's it! I find it hard to believe that such a highly recommended antenna doesn't pick up anything. What have I done wrong?

Good morning amrrogo -

Your TV channels are approximately 38-40 miles from you. Depending on how high your old DirecTV mast is you will have to raise the antenna. The antenna needs to be at least 30-40 feet above the ground and out in the open in order receive good results with the MS-2000 since this antenna has an operating range of up to 35 miles.

Another thing to check would be to use a volt meter and check the end of the coax downlead cable going into the bottom of the antenna. Unscrew the cable and using the volt meter check for +15VDC. The outside of the connector is your negative point and the center conductor is your + point. You should have +15VDC at this point or the amplifier in the antenna head will amplify your signal properly.
