Newbie - Equipment required for Satellite TV

Postby big-wave » Sun Aug 30, 2009 12:42 pm

Hi - I am a fairly experienced rv-er but a complete newbie (make that "boob" ) when it comes to satellite TV, so I hope you can help, preferably using the kind of language that a two year old could understand!
I recently purchased a used trailer with a Wineguard RS-1000 (Model RD-4610) already roof-mounted. Apart from the manual, i have inherited nothing - no cables, no converter boxes, subscriptions or anything. What do I need in order to move from hardware up top to crystal clear reception of my favourite programming? Yes - I DO have a TV - a HDTV-DVD combo flat screen - I already guessed that I'd need one of those! :ugeek:
Looking forward to hearing from you.

The RD-4610 is a combination satellite dish and over the air antenna.

The satellite portion will work with either DISH Network or DIRECTV and will require a receiver with a caox cable running between the LNB and the receiver.

The RS-1000 is a small omni-directional antenna. There should be a power supply for this antenna. The power supply runs the amplifier in the antenna head. You will need a coax cable from the antenna head to the power supply and then one from the power supply to the television.

The first time you use the satellite dish you will probably want to call us and have us walk you through finding the signal step by step. The unit is easy to use but has a pretty steep learning curve if you don't have help.

Thanks for the speedy response. What's an "NLB"?

The "newbie".
