Me too....no signal!!

We are also having a problem with getting a picture.....All we get is a blue screen. We have a converter box and a Winegard Entertainment Selector model # vs0503 and a DVD/VCR. Everything appears to be hooked up properly. We have tried programming and still nothing. When we first put the converter in we did get a picture although it wasn't very clear...now nothing. We also put on a wingman and checked the antenna for any loose wires...all ok!

This is in a 2006 motorhome that we just purchased. Is it possible that the tv's are digital and that we don't need the converter? Before we put it in we were getting some snowy pictures...this was after the cut off date.
We were camping and was hooked up to cable and still didn't get anything???
Our zip is 60084 outside of Chicago.

You are missing the point.

The point is - all the old equipment is now obsolete. TV's were analog, VCR's are analog, DVD players were analog.

Unless they have a really good antenna and a really good converter box and unless they have them connected properly, they are not going to get a good signal. Many older style camper antenna's were vhf and now the signals are mainly UHF.

You can't pick up UHF signals with a VHF antenna.

At times, a small simple UHF antenna cannot pick up a distant local low power UHF signal, no matter how hard you try.

Their best option is to find someone that works on televisions and installs antenna's and have that person assess their situation and find out - is the cable bad? Is the antenna the wrong one for their application?
Is there a distribution amplifier or other electronic equipment on board that has issues and needs to be replaced.

A direct connection to a cable tv network should not have the same issues as a OTA antenna system.

Without knowing what type of television and other equipment this person has in their camper, there is no way of knowing what they need to do to restore their reception and there is no simple answer.

So in fact - there is nothing easy about it.

I can use a home computer, but I don't know how to change system information - necessary to make the computer run properly. I was a pretty good carpenter and electrician and welder and machinist, but computers are not my specialty.

At the same time, this person could be a computer genius and could do anything with a computer, but not know how to pound a nail or cut a board with a saw or pour and finish cement. That doesn't make that person any dumber than I am. It just means that not all people have the same skills and when someone that does not have the same skills and expertise as you do, you have to make allowances for that.

I wouldn't go to the Jiffy Lube to have a brain operation, nor would I ask my family doctor to change the oil in my car. Those people all have a specialized occupation and to either person, what they do, they have specialized in that field and have done that particular operation many times.

I hope Traveling 1 comes back to the forum and can better explain their situation and also what they had to do to resolve this issue with their television reception issues.

He has a very good antenna. It receives VHF and UHF signal, has a UHF add-on installed and that same antenna is working extremely well on millions of RV's across the country.

We went camping this week and were having the same problem of only getting a blue screen and a "no signal" scrolling across the screen. We were going through the menu on the TV remote and seen something called Digital NR(noise reduction) and turned that on...and it worked. We had beautiful reception. Got home today tried reprogramming the tv(with the Digital NR still on) and got the same thing as before.....blue screen and "No signal."

We camped at a state park on Lake Michigan with Chicago directly to the south of us and Milwaukee to the north...I assume that's why we got good reception. Our house is about 20-25 miles west of the lake.
The coach is parked in our driveway with trees and houses surrounding so maybe it just can't get a signal...since everything seems to work now, that's the only thing I can come up with.

..TV is a Samsung as is the DVD/VHS... probably 2004 or 2005 model...... The coach is a 2006.
..New Apex converter box...this box worked with an older tv we had in our previous RV.

It is very likely that you just do not have enough signal at your home. The stations look to be around 40 miles from you, but are rated Blue/Violet. The trees and houses surrounding you will cause a definite obstacle to receiving that signal. If possible I would try moving your RV as far forward as you can... try to get the signal, then try back as far as possible... left, then right and see if that makes any difference.

The new digital signal works like a cell phone signal. While you may not receive reception in one room of your house, moving to a different room may give you enough signal to complete a call. The television signal works in the same way and moving 10-20 feet may provide you with better signal.

We are beyond frustrated! We have a 2006 Road Trek, RV-7005 Winegard Sensar Antenna, Samsung710MP3, and have installed an RCA DCB DTA800. We also are getting the rolling "No Signal" message on a blue screen. What say you??? Everything was working fine before the switch and addition of the box. We are in Benson, AZ
